Massachusetts gas prices now $1 a gallon lower than this time a year ago
BOSTON - Gas prices in Massachusetts are still well below the national average.
According to AAA, the average for a gallon of regular was $3.27 Monday.
That 17 cents less than the national average of $3.44.
"The global oil price has plunged to around $65 per barrel, a level not seen since December of 2021. Given that the cost of oil accounts for 55% of what we pay for gas, it's not surprising to see prices drop at the pump," AAA's Mary Maguire said in a statement.
A year ago at this time, the average in Massachusetts was a dollar a gallon higher at $4.27.
