Massachusetts Coronavirus Cases Rise To 197 With 33 New Positive Tests

BOSTON (CBS) – Health officials in Massachusetts said there are now 197 cases of coronavirus in Massachusetts, an increase of 33 since Sunday.

On Sunday, there were 164 total cases in Massachusetts.

Of the 197 new cases announced by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Monday, 100 are connected to the Biogen employee conference at Marriott Long Wharf in Boston at the end of February.

The number connected to Biogen has actually decreased from 108. According to DPH, "We reclassified some of the cases to more accurately reflect the exposure source. People who attended the Biogen conference and any close contact that got sick are still counted as part of the Biogen cluster. People outside of that are now considered to be part of the community transmission."

All of the cases are now considered to be confirmed.
