Mass. Woman Seriously Injured In Snowmobile Crash

LITTLETON, N.H. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman was seriously injured after losing control of her snowmobile on a trail in Littleton, New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say 63-year-old Mary Carter of Methuen, Massachusetts, lost control of her snowmobile while navigating a turn on a steep portion of Primary Trail 104 Saturday morning.

Officials say Carter headed down a steep hill while accidentally holding the throttle. They say she crossed a paved road, became airborne after going over a snowbank and was thrown from her snow machine after hitting a wooden beam.

Authorities say Carter — an experienced rider who was wearing a helmet — suffered serious injuries.

Officials say drugs and alcohol were not factors, but operator likely inattention contributed to the crash.
