Mass. Residents Given Chance To Weigh In On $3B Transportation Plan
BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts residents will have a chance to weigh in on a $3 billion capital investment plan for the state's transportation system.
A series of public meetings around the state are scheduled to begin next week.
Secretary of Transportation Stephanie Pollack says the draft plan for the state fiscal year that starts July 1 would authorize about $1 billion in capital funds for the MBTA, including for a winter resiliency program that aims to prevent any repeat of the massive breakdowns that occurred last winter.
In addition to the T, the overall transportation plan also includes highway and municipal projects, regional airports and regional transit systems.
The first meetings are scheduled for Monday in Amherst and Quincy. Other meetings this week will be held in Boston, Springfield, Framingham and Taunton.
