Mass. Residents Face Health Care Payment Deadline

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts residents seeking insurance through the state's health connector are facing another deadline.

They have until the end of Sunday to pay their first month's premium in order to guarantee coverage on Jan. 1.

The original enrollment deadline was Dec. 23, but connector officials gave the thousands of people who had chosen a plan but not yet paid for it a few extra days to do so.

Officials said more than 40,000 individual had both signed up and paid for their plans by last Tuesday.

Sunday's deadline does not apply to the many people who were placed into transitional coverage last year because of problems with the state's website and are covered through January.
