State Trooper Injured In Mass Pike Crash

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) – A Massachusetts State Police trooper suffered injuries following a crash involving a tractor-trailer on the Mass Pike on Friday morning.

The truck pushed the trooper's cruiser into the woods off the Mass Pike westbound in Framingham Friday morning. (WBZ-TV)

The crash happened on the westbound side of the highway in Framingham just after 7:20 a.m. near Edgell Road.

The impact pushed the trooper's cruiser over a guardrail, down an embankment into the woods off the road.

The trooper was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. Police say he was conscious and alert and as of noon were expecting him to be released from the hospital soon.

The truck driver was uninjured.

All lanes remained open following the crash.

A crane was used to get the cruiser back on the road so it could be towed.
