In April, Benton was allegedly involved in a stabbing at a Yarmouth home.

According to police, Benton repeatedly stabbed the victim in the stomach after an argument over a threat Benton allegedly made to the victim while armed with a handgun.

In an unrelated incident in May, police say Benton shot at a man with whom he was arguing.

In both cases, the victims survived.

According to police, Benton has a long criminal history including 42 prior charges, many of which include violent crimes.

Benton is currently being held in Florida.
