Mass. College Presidents Land On Highest-Paid List

BOSTON (CBS) -- Three Massachusetts college presidents are among the top 20 highest paid in the country, according to a new ranking.

The Chronicle of Higher Education reports that Massachusetts Institute of Technology President Susan Hockfield ranks sixth among private college presidents nationwide with a total compensation of $1,679,097. Joseph Aoun of Northeastern University comes in at No. 19 with $1,170,851, and Boston University President Robert Brown is just behind him at No. 20 with $1,164,078.

Also ranking in the top 100 are college presidents from Brandeis University, Harvard University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Emerson College, Tufts University and Bentley University.

The highest-paid college president is Shirley Ann Jackson of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, who makes $7,143,312 in total compensation.
