Mass. ACLU Sues For Documents About Terrorism Unit

BOSTON (AP) — The American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts is suing the FBI and the Boston U.S. attorney for information about a joint terrorism unit that includes its investigation of a Florida man allegedly linked to one of the Boston Marathon bombers.

The task force has investigated the bombing and was involved in the shooting death of Ibragim Todashev during an interrogation last May. A Florida prosecutor and the Justice Department cleared the FBI agent who shot Todashev of criminal wrongdoing.

The ACLU's lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court says the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office haven't responded to a December records request.

ACLU attorney Laura Rotolo says the public knows nothing about the task force, meaning there's no accountability.

The FBI declined to comment. A message was left with the U.S. attorney's office.
