Wahlberg, 'Patriots Day' Crew To Film Watertown Shootout In Framingham

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) -- Mark Wahlberg and the "Patriots Day" crews will be filming a reenactment of the Watertown shootout scene between police and the Boston Marathon bombers in Framingham.

On Wednesday, Boston police cruisers and a SWAT truck lined a quiet street in a residential neighborhood where crews are set to film the shootout between several law enforcement agencies and marathon bombers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Dozens of actors dressed as ATF, FBI, Boston and State police could be seen on set. Former MBTA Transit Police Officer Dic Donohue was critically injured during the shootout, and he's hoping the movie is accurate.

"My main concern was that it's authentic, that it's true, and that it's an honest representation," he said.

Filmmakers wanted to shoot the sequence in the neighborhood where the shootout took place, but residents there objected.

"I completely understand the folks in Watertown not wanting to relive it," a woman who lives near the Framingham shoot told WBZ NewRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe.

She says it's the celebrity gawkers who are a problem, as they have been traipsing through her yard and not being respectful.

Last week on the third anniversary of the bombings, the crew was also seen shooting in Somerville at the home of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, who was killed by the Tsarnaev brothers. The crew stopped filming to observe the moment of silence held at 2:49 p.m., which is when the explosions occurred on April 15, 2013.
