Mark Wahlberg Shoots 'Patriots Day' Scene At Boston Marathon Finish Line

BOSTON (CBS) -- There was a lot of activity at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street Monday, hours before the race even started.

Dorchester's Mark Wahlberg was at the finish line to shoot a scene for his movie about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, 'Patriots Day.'

In the movie, Wahlberg will star as Sgt. Tommy Saunders, a composite character based on several people involved in the response to the bombings.

The film will also star John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, Michelle Monaghan, and J.K. Simmons.

A release date has been set for Dec. 21 for theaters in Boston, New York and Los Angeles, before a wider release on Jan. 13, 2017.

Patriots Day is being produced by WBZ's sister company CBS Films.
