Marathon Heroes To Deliver Commencement Address
BOSTON (AP) — The one-time strangers who became friends when the Boston Marathon bombing tragedy threw them together have been named commencement speakers at Fisher College.
The Boston school announced Tuesday that Carlos Arredondo and Jeff Bauman will speak at the college's 110th commencement on May 10.
The men were captured in a memorable photograph after the 2013 explosions, with Arredondo, wearing a beat-up cowboy hat, helping push a wheelchair containing the severely injured Bauman away from danger.
Bauman lost both legs, but was one of the first people to give investigators a description of the suspects.
Fisher President Thomas McGovern says some students "have learned important life lessons from those directly impacted by last year's tragic events" by helping the authors of an upcoming book about the blasts with their research.
