Python Found Roaming Inside Mansfield Apartment

MANSFIELD (CBS) – Police had a wild morning as they tracked down a ball python that was roaming around a Mansfield apartment.

The 2-foot snake was found Monday morning after getting loose. The Sun Chronicle reported that the snake was found in a couple's bedroom at the Copeland Crossing Apartments.

Jake McGrath has owned the snake for 9 years. But Sunday night, it got out of its cage, probably got into a heating duct, and came out in an upstairs neighbor's bedroom. They called the Animal Control Officer. McGrath felt sorry for his neighbors and gave them a restaurant gift card as an apology.

Mansfield Police nicknamed the snake "Cuddles." Officers got a look at the snake during roll call.

The snake has since been reunited with its owner.

"Never a dull moment," police said.

It is not illegal in Massachusetts to own a python.
