Good Samaritan Restrains NH Man Suspected Of Stealing Wine

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – A Good Samaritan is being credited with stopping a man accused of pushing store clerks as he tried to steal wine from a New Hampshire store.

Manchester Police said Justin Small, 29, tried to steal a bottle of wine worth $12 from Gulf Express on Main Street.

The clerk at the store confronted Small, who police say pushed the 50-year-old woman.

A second clerk then intervened to try and get the bottle of wine back. Small allegedly pushed that clerk twice, causing her to fall to the ground the second time.

Police said a Good Samaritan saw the exchange and grabbed hold of Small.

The man, who police identified as Colin O'Neil of Manchester, restrained Small until police arrived.

One of the clerks suffered minor cuts and bruises during the incident. Both store employees declined medical treatment.

Small was arrested and charged with robbery because he used force during the alleged incident. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.
