$17,500 Reward Offered In Manchester Murder Investigation

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – A reward of $17,500 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed a woman in Manchester last weekend.

Denise Robert, 62, a longtime employee at the New Hampshire Union Leader, was out for a walk Sunday night when she was shot to death near Ray and Carpenter streets.

Ten-thousand dollars of the reward was offered by an anonymous donor, while $5,000 came from the newspaper and friends. The police crime line donated the other $2,500.

"Public support continues and we anticipate that the reward may be higher pending several businesses reaching out on behalf of the Robert family," the state Attorney General's Office said in a statement Wednesday.

Investigators say a "loud firecracker-type noise" was heard and a dark-colored pickup truck was seen quickly leaving the area at the time of the shooting.

Witnesses described the driver as a white man in his 20's to 30's, with short, cropped hair.

Police say they've received about a dozen tips so far.
