Man IDed In Lynn Fatal Police-Involved Shooting

LYNN (CBS) -- Authorities have released the name of the man who was shot dead by officers at an apartment in Lynn on Monday.

Police shot 57-year-old Robert Dapkus after authorities say he drew a gun on officers who were executing a search warrant at his Lynn Shore Drive apartment.

Dapkus was a suspect in an armed robbery at the Porthole Pub on September 26.

According to police and a witness in the apartment, after police announced themselves at the door, Dapkus replied that the police weren't going to take him.

When officers forced their way into Dapkus's apartment, they saw he had a gun, and moved back into the hallway.

The Essex DA's office said Dapkus moved into the hallway while pointing the gun at the officers, and three officers fired at him.

The incident remains under investigation.
