Man Hit, Killed By Tractor-Trailer On Mass Pike

NATICK (CBS) – A tractor-trailer struck and killed a man on the Massachusetts Turnpike early Tuesday morning.

State Police say 40-year-old Ramuel Raagas of Framingham was walking on the westbound side of the highway near the exit to Route 30 when he was hit just after 3 a.m. He died at the scene.

State Police shut down the breakdown and right travel lanes for the investigation. (WBZ-TV)

The truck driver, a 49-year-old man from Waterbury, Connecticut, stopped immediately. Police said he and the trucking company, Bozzutos Incorporated of Cheshire, Connecticut, have been cooperating with investigators.

It's still not known why Raagas was walking on the highway.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
