Man Dies After Springfield House Party Stabbing, Others Hurt

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police say a 23-year-old man has died after he and two other people were stabbed at an early morning house party.

Police Sgt. John Delaney said officers found the man when his friends crashed a car trying to rush him to a hospital at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday. An ambulance took the man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Delaney said two other people at the party had non-life-threatening stab wounds, and another had been had been struck with what may have been a beer bottle.

Delaney said two people were arrested on disorderly conduct charges.

At a city hall news conference, Police Commissioner John Barbieri said the death wasn't related to other recent killings in the city, and urged people to call police before fights get out of hand.
