Man Charged With Robbing Manchester, NH Convenience Store

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) - An homeless man is charged with robbing a Manchester, N.H. convenience store on Saturday night, police say.

Shortly before 11 p.m., officers were called to Crosstown Variety on Armory Street on a report of an unarmed robbery.

The store clerk told police that the man entered the store and appeared suspicious.

When the clerk opened the register, he reached over the counter and grabbed money from it, police said. It's unclear how much money was stolen.

Police say the clerk struggled with the man before he freed himself and attempted to leave the store. However, a nearby customer helped the clerk restrain the man in the parking lot.

Samuel Robie, 32, was arrested and charged with robbery.

He refused to speak with the bail commissioner and was held at Valley Street jail, police say.

A court date for the suspect wasn't immediately available.
