Man Charged With OUI After Toddler Is Ejected During Crash Arraigned

BOSTON (CBS) -- The man accused of driving the pickup truck that a toddler was ejected from was arraigned in court Monday.

Florian Roshi, 34, of Braintree, was charged with driving under the influence, child endangerment, and other charges after the crash on Route 3 in Weymouth Saturday night.

State Police said a three-year-old boy who was not properly buckled in Roshi's truck was thrown from the vehicle as it spun out of control.

He was taken to Boston Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An eight-year-old boy who was also in the truck was not hurt.

Police say Roshi drove another quarter of a mile before pulling over. When officers searched his truck, they found a marijuana cigarette and a plastic baggie with white residue in it.

Roshi's attorney admitted that he once had a drug problem, but has been clean and sober for eight years. "He's very involved with his children, and has a strong family. His mother and father were here at court today," said Jessica Foley.

Bail for Roshi was set at $5,080.
