Man Charged With Making Meth In Attleboro Home Held On $2,500 Bail

ATTLEBORO (CBS) -- A man charged with manufacturing crystal methamphetamine in his Attleboro home was ordered held on $2,500 cash bail at arraignment.

Robert Acheson, 52, could be seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt during his appearance in Attleboro District Court.

Police say they discovered a meth lab at Acheson's house on Knight Avenue Sunday afternoon after receiving an overdose call. Officers allegedly found multiple chemicals, containers and paraphernalia inside the home they believe were used to make methamphetamine.

Prosecutors say Acheson became sick from a batch of methamphetamine he made on Wednesday or Thursday of last week. They also said he used the Internet to research how to make it.

Acheson was arrested and taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro for treatment of a possible overdose, police said.

Nearby homes were evacuated while State Police bomb squad and hazmat teams investigated the site.

At his arraignment, Acheson's attorneys say it was a failed first-time chemical experience and not a sophisticated methamphetamine-making operation.

His next court date was not immediately available.
