Man Arrested For Baseball Bat Tirade In Whitman
WHITMAN (AP) — Police in Whitman arrested a man accused of walking into a room full of children at a church and swearing, then smashing a car windshield with a baseball bat in the parking lot.
Fifty-year-old Michael Thomann was charged Friday with assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious damage to a motor vehicle and disorderly conduct.
Police say Thomann entered a gym on the property of the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church Tuesday night and swore in front of about 20 children ages 10 to 13. Authorities say he left seconds later, smashed the car windshield and drove away.
Thomann was arraigned Friday at Brockton District Court. A judge released him on personal recognizance.
It's not clear if Thomann has a lawyer. A phone listing for him could not be found.
