Man Wanted For Attempted Murder Of Salem Police Officer Arrested

SALEM (CBS) -- A former Malden resident wanted for attempted murder after he allegedly shot at a Salem police officer on Thursday has been arrested.

On Friday morning, Salem police released a flyer on their Facebook page with images of Jeremiah Wooden, who officers tried to take into custody on five outstanding warrants.

Police say Wooden ran and then got into a struggle with an officer, pulled a gun from his pocket and shot once at the officer on Fairfield Street around 6:15 p.m.

Wooden ran again and was not found until just before 4 p.m. on Friday when police said he was taken into custody.

Salem Police said Wooden was arrested on Park Street in Lynn without incident.

Boston Police told WBZ-TV they searched in East Boston overnight for Wooden and that they found his phone in a vehicle. The gun allegedly used in the shooting was also found in a nearby backyard.

Investigators say he has ties to East Boston, Lynn and Marblehead. Police departments in Danvers, Lynn, Malden, Marblehead and State Police helped Salem with their investigation.

Police said Wooden was considered "armed and extremely dangerous."

No further details on Wooden's arrest are currently available.
