Malden Couple Surprised By Scratch Ticket Prize

BOSTON (CBS) --- A good thing turned into something even better for Jeremy Lockett and his wife Rabina.

The Malden couple went to lottery headquarters to cash in their winnings on a scratch ticket they bought in Dorchester.

When they went up to the counter, they got a big surprise.

"He got a little surprised when it wasn't $50,000 flat, it was a $50,000 a year, for life, prize," lottery spokesperson Beth Bresnahan said."Every time a winner comes through the door, they have different reactions but when you see someone overjoyed to tears and dancing, it is one of the greatest feelings in the world."

The ticket was a $20 "Lifetime Spectacular" ticket. There is one $400,000 a year for life prize and two $50,000 a year for life prizes remaining in the $20 game, according to Mass. Lottery.

The Locketts took the cash option which comes out to $650,000 after taxes.

They told Bresnahan they will pay off some small debts and invest the money.
