Make-A-Wish Builds Pirate Ship For Forestdale Boy With Heart Disease

FORESTDALE (CBS) – A Massachusetts boy's wish came true on Friday as his pirate-themed tree house was unveiled.

Ethan Anderson, a 6-year-old Forestdale resident, was previously diagnosed with complex congenital heart disease.

Through Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, he requested a play area that could also serve as a space to work with his therapist.

Ethan has trouble breathing and suffers from severe fatigue, which meant the play area needed to meet certain requirements

Dressed in a pirate costume, Ethan celebrated the structure's unveiling. The area includes a captain's wheel, fisherman's netting, a slide and a staircase to help with his activity restrictions.

In addition, Ethan can scan the horizon for other pirates in the area from the ship's lookout.

Ethan received a framed version of his original designs for "The Wish Ship" and took part in a treasure hunt during Friday's ceremony.

Liberty Construction Services, an affiliate of Suffolk Construction, dedicated time and effort into building the ship.
