Maine Man Arrested After Allegedly Biting MBTA Officer On The Neck

BOSTON (CBS) -- Transit Police report one of their officers was bitten in the neck Wednesday night by a suspect while trying to remove him from the Chinatown MBTA Station.

According to police, officers responded to the station where a man said he was the victim of an unprovoked assault by a man he did not know.

When the officers arrived, the suspect, Rueben Thomas, 32, of Houlton, Maine, was smoking and blocking the entrance to the station, police said.

When the officers approached, Thomas allegedly became combative and a struggle ensued when he would not leave the station entrance.

Police said Thomas was subdued but not before he bit one of the officers in the neck.

Thomas was arrested and was scheduled to be arraigned on various assault charges Thursday in Boston Municipal Court.
