Lynn Stabbing Victim, Suspect Identified

LYNN (CBS) -- A man stabbed in a fight over money Sunday morning in Lynn has died, police said.

The stabbing happened at an apartment on Lewis Street around 10:22 a.m. Lynn Police said the fight began as an argument over money.

George McBrier, 50, of Lynn, was arrested and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Keenan Barr, also of Lynn, police announced Sunday night.

The Essex District Attorney's Office said the victim was repeatedly stabbed in the chest and shoulder.

He was taken to Salem Hospital, where he later died.

"It's dangerous, I mean obviously even in the daytime it's dangerous and you never know who your neighbors are," said one woman.

Police said McBrier was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Salem Hospital and then discharged into police custody.

The Essex DA's Office is continuing to investigate.
