Lowell Police Seek Man Who Sexually Assaulted Teenager

LOWELL (CBS) -- Police are searching for a man who attacked a teenage girl in Lowell on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the teenager was walking down Lincoln Street near the Lowell Connector when a man came up from behind her, forced her into the woods and sexually assaulted her.

The attack appears to be an isolated incident, authorities said.

"She has no idea who this was, never saw him before," Lowell police Capt. Timothy Crowley said. "It's very rare, it's in an area where we don't have any issues."

The teenager ran to a garage where mechanics called police. She was treated and released at a hospital.

Nearby residents were stunned.

"It's sickening," said Brianna Chaisson, who lies nearby.

"I feel bad for the girl, I hope they catch the guy who did it," said Dan Kitchens, a Lowell resident.

Police said they are looking for a white man, about 50 years old with a wrinkled face. He is described as being 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, long salt and pepper hair, and wearing an older green jacket, a 'beanie' style winter hat, white undershirt and dark colored steel-toed boots.
