Lowell Minor League Team To Hold 'Artie T. Party' For Market Basket Workers

LOWELL (AP) – Market Basket employees will get a night in their honor at a Lowell Spinners minor league baseball game later this month.

The Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox says the Aug. 20 game against the Connecticut Tigers will serve as an "Artie T. Party."

Arthur T. Demoulas was fired in June by a board controlled by his cousin, Arthur S. Demoulas, and has been negotiating to buy the company. Thousands of employees have protested the ouster of their beloved boss, leaving most of the chain's 71 supermarkets without meat and produce. Many customers have boycotted.

Market Basket employees can buy $4 tickets and be part of a pre-game parade. Spinners general manager Tim Bawmann says the team isn't taking sides in the dispute, but is just supporting the community.
