Lowell Man Charged With Murder

LOWELL (CBS) – A 50-year-old Lowell man has been charged with murder for allegedly stabbing a Lowell man to death on Thursday night during an attempted robbery.

Robert Weidman was arrested on Saturday morning and charged with murder, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. He will likely by arraigned in Lowell District Court on Monday and is currently at a local hospital under guard.

At 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a 911 call from the victim, according to the DA's office. Police found the victim on Woburn Street with stab wounds. He was taken to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington where he was pronounced dead on Friday morning.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
