Lowell Bakery Gutted In Early Morning Fire

LOWELL (CBS) – A bakery in Lowell was gutted in a fire early Thursday morning.

The 3-alarm fire started just before sunrise at the Delicias Paisas bakery on Bridge Street.

The owner was inside at the time but able to safely escape.  One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The apartment buildings on both sides of the bakery were evacuated as a precaution. No one in those buildings were hurt.

Fire officials say the fire may have been caused by a frialator full of cooking oil that was left on and ignited.

The incident remains under investigation.
