Newlywed Loses Heirloom Engagement Necklace In Westwood Target

WESTWOOD (CBS) -- A local woman is hoping someone might have found a precious family heirloom believed to be lost while she was shopping.

Leah Golden says her diamond engagement necklace went missing on Sunday afternoon at a Westwood Target, possibly in the children's clothing section.

She received the necklace that was specially designed by her husband on their wedding day two weeks ago.

But Golden says there is a deeper meaning to the necklace. She said it contains the diamond from the engagement ring her grandfather bought for her grandmother after the World War II veteran scraped together all of his meager savings.

"The value to whoever has this is a pittance compared to the meaning this has to me and my family," Golden says. "There are lots of similar jewelry in the world, but only one that carries this history with it and we ask for your kindness to return this to its rightful owner."

Anyone who finds the necklace is asked to turn it in to the Target store or Westwood police.
