Three Massachusetts Planes Targeted By Lasers

BOSTON (CBS) – Three pilots reported being targeted by a green laser Wednesday night at a pair of Massachusetts airports.

Just before 9 p.m., the pilot of a Hawker 25 told the Federal Aviation Administration they were targeted by a green laser while flying at around 11,000 feet above Harriman Airport in North Adams.

About 25 minutes later, American Airlines Flight 1806 from Charlotte reported a similar incident while flying 10 miles northeast of Logan Airport.

The third incident took place about two minutes later, when Delta Flight 2100 from Atlanta was also targeted by a green laser in the same area as the American Airlines flight.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incidents, which will be investigated by the FAA.

Several similar incidents have been reported in recent months near Logan Airport.

Pilots say lasers have the potential to temporarily blind them.
