Cat missing at Logan Airport found weeks later

BOSTON – A missing cat named Rowdy has been found safe after weeks roaming Logan Airport.

Shortly after her family's flight arrived in Boston on June 24, Rowdy escaped her cat carrier.

Massport staff members set up wildlife cameras around Terminal E in areas where Rowdy had been previously seen. Safe release animal traps were set up as well, with help from the Animal Rescue League.

"Searching for Rowdy became a community effort, with everyone from construction workers to airline staff constantly on the lookout hoping for a positive outcome," a Massport spokesperson said.

Rowdy's owner Patty Sahli had hope, but low expectations, when it came to strangers caring about her cat crisis.

"It's not everyone else's cat," Sahli said. "Everyone has a job at the airport to do, and it's not to be hunting a cat."

On Wednesday, those efforts paid off. Sahli pulled over to park when she saw Massport ringing her phone.

"He called and he goes 'We have her,' and I couldn't believe it!" she said.

Rowdy is safe, satisfied with her grand tour of Logan, and will finally be reunited with her family this weekend.

"Everybody together, everybody was reporting stuff. People were checking the cages, people were checking the footage," Sahli said. "It was just a big community effort, and I can't thank everybody enough."
