Limo Drivers: Callahan Tunnel Closure Not That Bad

BOSTON (CBS) --- It's been about a month since the Callahan Tunnel was closed for a major overhaul. When it closed, nobody knew what to expect, so how has it been for those that use the tunnel the most?

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports

Limo drivers, as much as anybody, have had to deal with the closing of the Callahan, they're constantly bringing people to the airport.

"It's not as bad as they thought it would be, you just need to know the ins and outs," one limo driver said. He said it takes an extra 10 minutes to get to the airport with the tunnel closed.

They say the closing of the tunnel has slowed them down, but it's not the transportation armageddon that many feared it would be.

The most delays are in the Ted Williams tunnel during afternoon drive time, especially when a lane in the connector tunnel is closed to accommodate new traffic from alternate routes that drivers have discovered this month.
