Limo A No-Show, Students Hop On T For Ride To Semi-Formal

BOSTON (CBS) -- The limo never showed up last Saturday night, but a group of Newton teenagers still arrived to their semi-formal in style.

The Newton South High School students were all set to go to the dance at Boston Park Plaza Hotel when they found out their limo couldn't make it because of mechanical problems.

Instead, the 10 couples in their heels, dresses and suits walked to the Waban MBTA station and hopped on a Green Line train.

"Some parents were getting ready to carpool, but the kids were having so much fun they didn't want to split up," David Rosenblatt told The Boston Globe.

Rosenblatt's son Sam was one of the teenagers in the group.

"Away they went, all duded up," he said.

The Green Line took them right to Arlington Station, only a block away from the hotel.

Rosenblatt says the limo company apologized and was able to bring the kids home safe to Newton at the end of the night.
