Liberal Group Urging Sen. Elizabeth Warren To Seek White House

WASHINGTON (AP) — A prominent liberal group is urging Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016. It plans to spend $1 million to support the effort.

MoveOn.org says it's polling its members on whether to launch a "Run Warren Run" campaign and will try to persuade Warren to enter the next presidential race if the vote succeeds.

Warren has repeatedly said she is not running for president. But she remains a favorite of liberals, some of whom are wary of the leading potential Democratic candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

If the draft presidential campaign is ratified by MoveOn members, the group will set up offices and staff in early presidential states like Iowa and New Hampshire and recruit volunteers and donors.

The campaign was first reported by The New York Times.
