Patriots Reportedly Release Wide Receiver Leonard Hankerson

BOSTON (CBS) – Leonard Hankerson's stay with the Patriots reportedly did not last very long.

Pro Football Talk reports that the wide receiver, who was signed by the Patriots December 17, is being released.

Hankerson was active for the team's win over the Tennessee Titans, but was never targeted.

The Patriots remain thin at wide receiver, awaiting the likely return of Julian Edelman, who has been practicing and will likely return to game action before season's end after breaking a bone in his foot against the New York Giants.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that if Hankerson clears waivers, he's likely to return to New England next week.
