Man Fleeing Police Survives Crash After Car Splits In Half In Leominster

LEOMINSTER (CBS) – A driver fleeing police survived after his car hit a telephone pole and split and half.

State Police say a trooper activated his lights and sirens when he saw a driver run a stop sign on Mills Street in Leominster Thursday night.

The vehicle sped away and crashed down the road while trying to take a corner.

The driver fled on foot but was caught a short time later by Leominster Police in a Market Basket Parking lot.

The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Taino Reyes of Leominster. He is charged with operating after a license suspension, leaving the scene of a crash and failure to stop for police.

Reyes was evaluated by EMTs and taken to a Worcester area hospital.
