Lawrence Officer, Firefighter Pull 300-Pound Man From Burning Home
LAWRENCE (CBS) -- Teamwork between the police and fire departments appears to have saved a man's life.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports
When Officer Carl Farrington arrived on the scene of a house fire around 9:15 p.m. Monday, he saw an older man pulling his 53-year-old son out of the burning home.
The man weighs around 300 pounds, according to authorities.
That's when Farrington and Deputy Fire Chief John McGinnis ran into the home and carried the man down a flight of stairs and outside.
The man was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. He's said to be in serious condition.
"I'm sure if you asked them, they'd say they were just doing what they've been trained to do," Lawrence Fire Chief John Marsh told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "It sounds like there was teamwork between us and the police department and a good job was done by all."
