Lawrence Man Allegedly Used Screwdriver To Try To Kill Man

LAWRENCE (CBS) – A 57-year-old Lawrence man has been ordered held without bail pending the outcome of a dangerousness hearing in connection with charges he allegedly stabbed a man with a screwdriver.

Jose Picart was arraigned on Friday at Lawrence District Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and attempt murder, according to the Essex County District Attorney's Office.

A judge revoked Picart's bail on a separate case in which Picart allegedly assaulted his wife, according to the DA's office. In that case, the judge ordered Picart to stay away from the wife and wear a GPS monitoring device.

On Thursday night, Picart allegedly violated his bail conditions when he tried to kill a man at his wife's home by stabbing him with a screwdriver, according to the DA's office.
