2 Killed In Early Morning Lawrence Rollover

LAWRENCE (CBS) – Two people were killed during an early Saturday morning crash on the Interstate 495 off ramp in Lawrence.

Just after 2:15 a.m., police responded to a rollover crash at the off ramp to Marston Street.

Preliminary investigation shows the 1992 Honda Civic driven by a 22-year-old Lawrence man took the exit at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve.

As a result, the car drove off the embankment and rolled over.

The driver sustained serious injuries. He was initially brought to Lawrence General Hospital but transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Two passengers in the car died as a result of the crash.

Alexander Castro, 23, of Salem and Wilbert Munoz, a 26-year-old Lawrence resident did not survive.

Castro was brought to Lawrence General Hospital but pronounced dead a short time later. Munoz was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police closed the ramp for about four hours after the crash.

The driver of the car is not currently facing charges.
