Latest Reports: Chandler Jones Took Synthetic Marijuana, But Did Not 'Overdose'

BOSTON (CBS) -- It may be some time before the full Chandler Jones story is known publicly, but details continued to trickle out on Wednesday.

The Boston Globe's Chris Gasper reported that, contrary to an early speculative report, Jones did not overdose on a drug. Gasper also reported that a source confirmed that the drug Jones did take was synthetic marijuana.

"Jones had a bad reaction to a substance he put into his body on Sunday," Gasper reported. "The source was adamant that Jones did not overdose on a drug such as cocaine or heroin. The source said Jones lives near the Foxborough police station, and he walked there to seek help after he had the bad reaction."

Gasper also reported that Rob Gronkowski was not involved in any way.

As for potential NFL involvement, NESN's Doug Kyed reported that the league is "reviewing" the situation.

The Patriots are set to host the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional playoffs on Saturday afternoon, and Jones has been present for practice each day this week. It remains unlikely that Jones will face discipline from the league for this weekend.
