Lakeville Bank Employee Held At Gunpoint; Police Seek Armed Robber

LAKEVILLE (CBS) – Police in Lakeville are asking the public for help after surveillance footage captured a man holding a bank employee at gunpoint Monday morning.

Authorities say the armed man entered the Bridgewater Savings Bank on Main Street at 11:35 a.m. and demanded cash. Photos shared by police show the man with a gun in his hand and his other arm around a woman's neck.

"The demeanor of the suspect seemed very calm, cool and collected, which can be even scarier," said Lakeville Police Chief Frank Alvilhiera.

Police are offering a reward for any information leading to the man's arrest.

Bridgewater Savings Bank CEO James Lively described the incident as "very traumatic."

"This was an armed robbery where a weapon was shown and employees were threatened with harm," he said in a statement. "As you may imagine, this was upsetting to the customers and staff."

Police believe the suspect ran into Middleboro.

"We did do a K-9 track, we were unable to pick up anything," Chief Alvilhiera said.

Anyone with information can call Lakeville police at 508-947-4422, or by anonymous tip at 508-946-8815.
