Kenyan Boston Marathon Runners Honored At Hopkinton's Elmwood School

HOPKINTON (CBS) - A group of elite Kenyan runners in town for the Boston Marathon kept tradition Thursday with their annual visit to the Elmwood School in Hopkinton.

About 600 screaming second and third graders greeted the runners with a rock star-like rally in the school gym.

Students spend part of the school year learning about Kenyan culture and traditions, as well as Swahili, in the weeks leading up to the race.

At the end of the program, a group of third graders went on a short "fun run" with the Kenyan marathoners outside of the school.
