Keller @ Large: Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack On MBTA Woes

BOSTON (CBS) -- Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack sat down with WBZ-TV political analyst Jon Keller on this week's Keller @ Large to talk about the challenges facing the MBTA after a winter of poor performance.

Pollack said the MBTA needs to do a better job of communicating with other cities after it was revealed this week that common practices like putting deicing fluid on third rails weren't used here.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have been a priority at the T," she said. "I think the T has a reputation for, even within the transit industry, for being a little bit insular."

Pollack also addressed questions about how much control Gov. Charlie Baker should have over the MBTA's Board of Directors.

"If we want to hold him accountable for fixing it, then we need to give him and me the power to make a difference," she said.
