Keller @ Large: Senate President Therese Murray Starting Private Venture

BOSTON (CBS) -- Outgoing Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray is starting a private venture to promote Bay State businesses worldwide, she told WBZ-TV political analyst Jon Keller in an interview.

The non-profit organization called Mass-Ignite will have an international focus, Murray said.

"We'll be promoting what's going on here in the innovation economy here in Massachusetts," she said. "We'll be putting our companies together with opportunities across the world.

Murray is departing the Senate after 22 years in office, including an eight-year term as the first woman to serve as Senate president in Massachusetts.

"Government does not move very quickly," Murray said. "Which is why I'm excited about going to the private sector where you can actually move things quickly."

Murray also told Keller that there are no plans to pass a proposed pay raise for elected officials before Gov.-Elect Charlie Baker takes office.

Additionally, Murray reflected on serving under five different governors and her thoughts on prospective presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
