Jones' Day After Takeaways: Great Day For Revis, Patriots Secondary vs. Lions
BOSTON (CBS) - The day after every Patriots game, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones shares some thoughts via Twitter after giving the game a second viewing.
Here are Jones' takeaways from New England's 34-9 win over the Detroit Lions.
Darrelle Revis is awesome:
Revis was excellent yesterday, so it's easy to forget that Golden Tate had some early success against him on pick plays.

On the first play of the game, Revis was picked by Jeremy Ross on a 24-yard catch and run by Tate.

Facing a third-and-5 later on the same drive, Revis was picked by Corey Fuller for 17-yards.

But Revis had the last laugh on the drive, breaking up a 3rd-and-6 pass for Tate by undercutting the route. Lions had to settle for a FG.

For the most part, Revis was responsible for Tate. But he made a great play on a fade to Calvin Johnson in the end zone on 2nd-and-goal.

Revis finished the afternoon with a team-high four pass deflections. Detroit's star receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate were held to just eight receptions on 21 targets.
The Patriots defense deserves the majority of the praise in shutting down Stafford, but his receivers didn't give him much help.

Fauria dropped a would-be TD on 3rd-and-goal (potential 10-7 lead). Fuller let one go through his hands as well (would've trailed 14-13).

Not the first to say it, but Pats special teams deserve a ton of credit. Allen's 66-yard punt and Amendola's 81-yard KOR were huge plays.

Julian Edelman took his usual beating on Sunday:
Not that we need a reminder, but one sequence late in the first half underscored Edelman's toughness ...
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 24, 2014
After getting crushed on a fake end around, Brady goes back to Edelman -- who takes another big hit -- on next play for 8-yards (3rd-and-6).

Jones said it was a rough day for Lions' head coach Jim Caldwell:
Thought Caldwell had a brutal day. Settled for field goals all day and punted from NE 39 on 4th-and-3 (trailing 14-6). Wayyy too passive.
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 24, 2014
He also went to halftime with all three timeouts. Never challenged Edelman's juggling sideline catch. Pats faced 3rd-and-10 if overturned.
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 24, 2014
Oh, and he let 35 seconds or so run off the clock before the 2:00 minute warning. Nice coach you have there, Detroit.
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 24, 2014
Meanwhile, the Pats used :35 seconds and three timeouts to get a last second field goal before halftime (after two free releases for Gronk).
