John Farrell: Rusney Castillo Likely To Make Red Sox Debut On Wednesday
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Rusney Castillo era is near.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said Tuesday on Sirius XM radio that the Cuban outfielder will likely make his major league debut Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.
Farrell "it's likely Castillo will be in CF tomorrow, we fully planned out the final 2 weeks to keep getting at-bats"

Castillo, 27, signed a seven-year, $72.5 million contract with the Red Sox back in August. The team has slowly introduced him to the professional game in the U.S., first with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox at the end of August. Castillo then moved up to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs and Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox enter their three-game series against the Pirates sitting 24 games out of first place in the AL East. With no playoff race to consider, Farrell will be able to manipulate his lineup as he sees fit regarding the best way to ease Castillo into big league action.
