Man Allegedly Robs Marblehead Jewelry Store In Broad Daylight

MARBLEHEAD (CBS) -- A Peabody man is under arrest for allegedly robbing a jewelry store in broad daylight.

Police responded to the Gold Bug Jewelry Store in Marblehead around 10:30a.m. on Thursday after the store's security alarm went off. The store owner told police the man jumped behind the counter and took some items from the case as well as the owner's purse. When she tried to call police, the suspect allegedly grabbed her by the arm, grabbed the phone out of her hand, took it and ran away.

Police found the suspect a short time later hiding behind a bush in a nearby neighborhood.

The 44-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released is facing multiple charges including larceny and assault and battery.  He is due in court on Friday.
